From our UK-based foundry near Glasgow, Scotland, we provide end-to-end design, manufacture and qualification for early-phase prototypes and high-volume production, supporting up to 100mm wafer sizes on InP, GaAs, GaSb and GaN substrates.
Our team of over 80 staff are working across roles in R&D, wafer fabrication and backend assembly & test, as well as in various commercial roles.
Role
We are looking for an intern to join the Device Engineering team on a 6-month contract. The Device Engineering Team are responsible for all aspects of device design, and work with all other departments within the company to ensure that devices produced in our foundry meet the required specifications and are delivered on time. The successful candidate will be trained in all aspects of the role.
Responsibilities
- Characterisation of semiconductor laser devices in Sivers’ test lab using benchtop test equipment such as current sources, optics, photodetectors and stages.
- Analysis of data and creation of test reports.
- Modification of the test setup to expand test capability.
Experience
- A degree or equivalent in a relevant subject, e.g.: Engineering or Physics.
- Experience of electronics component testing would be an advantage.
- Knowledge of programming languages such as LabVIEW, C++ or Python would be an advantage.
