Sivers IMA Holding AB (Nasdaq First North: SIVE, the Company) and Blu Wireless Technology have completed two major, successful live demonstrations of their multi-Gbit pre-11ay mmWave communication system. At the Telecom Infra Project Summit, London, and the Broadband World Forum, Berlin, in October. Sivers IMA has together with, the IP baseband company Blu Wireless showcased the combined technologies in two point to multi-point (P2MP) live demonstrations.

In a full reference system combining Sivers IMA’s high performing RF module and Blu Wireless’s baseband chip, have been able to show outstanding system capabilities including many pre-11ay standard features as well as full 14 GHz of bandwidth (57-71 GHz). The technology delivers multi-gigabit throughput at a distance of hundreds of metres using advanced beam-forming to stabilise the connection. During the two P2MP demonstrations in October, the system achieved remarkable speeds and distances of over 4Gbps and over 400m, incorporating features such as 4 level QoS and co-channel interference mitigation for ultra-fast and reliable connectivity.

“The combination of Blu Wireless truly capable and feature rich baseband solution with Sivers IMA high performing, award winning RF module enable world-class performance and allow our customers to offer the best possible broadband service to the end user. We see this as a clear and unique selling point”, says Anders Storm CEO of Sivers IMA.

The flexibility of the system’s design has led, for example, Cambridge Communication Systems (CCS) to use the technology in their products, which are under deployment as part of a central London neutral host backhaul network implementation around Trafalgar square. The network will deliver gigabit-speed wireless connectivity.

“Our mmWave system has received outstanding feedback during all of our engagements in October, especially in terms of the live demonstrations,” commented Henry Nurser, CEO of Blu Wireless Technology. “We are proud to be partnering with Sivers IMA on producing technologies that will change the face of connectivity as we prepare our customers for upcoming milestones like the 802.11ay standard and 5G networking.”

The system will be ready for mass production before the end of 2018, with use cases including Fixed Wireless Access, mobile backhaul, mesh networks and smart city applications.
