The demonstration was conducted during four days in March 2021 using a local bus in service in Himeji City, Hyogo Prefecture in co-operation with other five partners including Kansai Transmission and Distribution, Inc. and was the first of its kind in Japan. The purpose was to confirm the effectiveness of a safe driving support system for local bus services by leveraging vehicle-to-infrastructure communication and vehicle-to-vehicle communication with bicycles at intersections with poor visibility and no traffic lights.
