Sivers IMA Holdings AB subsidiary, CST Global, has successfully proven the feasibility of its uncooled, ridge waveguide, CWDM, DFB lasers to transmit at 25 Gbps. This shows that the CWDM, DFB lasers are on track for full commercialization in applications like data communications platforms for hyper-scale, cloud data centres.

The feasibility comes as part of CST Global’s involvement in the UK government-funded, SUPER 8, research project, which was disclosed on September 26, 2017.

“The feasibility shows that a 200Gbps, ultra-high-speed, data communications platform for use by hyper-scale, cloud data centres, is now proven. High capacity networks of this type, with greater transmission rates and a lower cost base, will also be essential to cloud services, video-on-demand and IoT markets. It clearly shows that the CWDM, DFB lasers being developed within the SUPER 8-project are on track for full commercialization”, comments Anders Storm, CEO of Sivers IMA Holding AB.

CST Global is a Glasgow-based, wholly-owned subsidiary of Sivers IMA Holding and the UK’s leading, independent, III-V opto-electronic, semi-conductor foundry.
