Sivers Photonics were delighted to attend yesterday’s Photonics and Quantum Industry All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) showcase, the first in-person Photonics and Quantum APGG event since 2017. The event took place at the House of Lords on 6th July at a stunning location overlooking the River Thames.

The breakfast event provided a forum for leading UK photonics companies to exchange knowledge with parliamentarians on the current and future impact of photonics and discuss the fundamental role light-based technologies are playing in wider society. From optical fibre and lasers, to cameras and lighting, the APPG on Photonics and Quantum aims to raise awareness of the critical contribution these technologies make to manufacturing productivity, healthcare, connectivity and security and their enormous future potential.

In attendance was Graeme Urquhart, Sales Director – Sivers Photonics, accompanied by Stuart Smyth, Device Engineer. The team met with MP’s including APPG Co-Chair Stephen Metcalfe MP and Paul Howell MP.  The event not only provided us with the opportunity to meet up with parliamentarians, but gave us the chance to network with industry contacts old and new, from companies including Bay Photonics, Effect Photonics and CSconnected.

We look forward to seeing you all next year!
